The Many Activities of Youth - A Social Documentary
BA (Hons) Final Major Project
You know how adults are always pointing fingers at smartphones, blaming them for everything? Well, I wanted to show that there is a whole lot more to the youth than what phone is in their pocket, or what the latest trend is on the latest trending app. This project is all about the diverse activities and hobbies they are into. I have gathered photos from all sorts of places – Skateparks, Youth Classes, and Youth Sports. Each one tells a different story about what it is like to be a youth in today’s world, and how they are still participating in activities and hobbies to shape their future. But these pictures are not just snapshots; they are like windows into a world full of energy and hope. The hope was to show off all those who participated in the project in a positive light. And I just want to thank everyone who has helped this project along the way. It would not have been possible without you!

The "Scouts Youth" series from my BA (Hons) project captures the essence of scouting, where youth embrace nature, learn survival skills, and build lasting friendships, all while discovering their potential and fostering a sense of community. These images show some of the indoor activities.

The ‘Fizzy Dance Company’ series, part of my BA (Hons) in Photography, captures the vibrant spirit and positive impact of dance on young people. It showcases their journey from casual participants to passionate performers, highlighting the transformative power of dance in fostering creativity, confidence, and community among youth.
Cars and Coffee

The series, titled ‘Cars and Coffee,’ forms an integral component of my BA (Hons) in Photography project centered on investigating the influence of youth activities. The ‘Cars and Coffee’ gathering at Dobbies brings together youthful enthusiasts of cars. The captured images depict the constructive influence of these gatherings on their lives. Originating as a space for socializing and capturing photos for online platforms, it provides a platform for individuals to articulate their emotions and showcase their identities.
Livi Youth

This series is part of a larger project for my BA (Hons) in Photography, where I documented various youth activities to highlight their benefits. "Livi Line" focuses on Livingston Skatepark and features young bike rider Lewis Johnstone. The images show how Lewis's involvement with the skatepark has positively influenced his life. He began by visiting the park with friends to create social media content, and now works for a company that designs and builds skateparks and pump tracks. This series captures the transformative impact of the skatepark on his personal and professional development.
